Working the Transfer Market

Mustafa Amini, Robbie Kruse and Mitch Langerak are just a few of the players the A-League has produced and sold.

There is nothing better then watching a player come from their club's own youth system but to be frank, the A-League isn't good enough for our best talent to thrive.

People argue that the A-League plays a simpler role of uncovering youth and exposing them to the world for bigger clubs to buys and improve them.

This is in part true and you can imagine the uproar when the Central Coast rejected an offer from BVB for young gun Mustafa Amini.

How dare the Mariners risk this young boys chance of a life time for their own hip pocket?

How dare they hold him back in Australia when he could be playing in Europe?

The truth of the matter is that the Central Coast had and have every right to do as they please with players under contract and these skeptics of Australian footballers and the A-League need to take a look at the big picture.

BVB reportedly offered the Mariners AUD$125,000 less then half the perceived value of Amini (roughly AUD$300,000).

BVB backed off and it appeared that Amini's European career had ended before it begun.

However about a month later it appears BVB have come back with a more realistic offer and some German media have already confirmed the signing.

A-League clubs may be young and not as respected as there European counterparts but they still deserve the same basic rights and the fact of the matter is that the A-League needs to keep these players to imporve!

The on-field standard of the league has skyrocketed since 2005 and teams like Brisbane Roar now command international respect on some level.

The A-League needs players like Amini to lift the league's standard and promote the game in Australia.

The ultimate goal of the A-League is to be successful in spreading the good game of football in Australia and improving it.

The A-League has a much bigger role then just 'uncovering' talent but some people simply don't understand this.
